A storytelling performance celebrating the literary works of Singapore's writers!
Asian Stories this year focuses on the skills of adapting and translating literary texts into performance storytelling.
Stories performed:
- Poet and Countertenor Cyril Wong will perform his own work 'The Old Man with the Golden Voice' from Let Me Tell You Something About That Night.
- Educator and Translator Annaliza Bakri will perform an extract from Singapore Literature Prize winner (2004, 2006 and 2008) Mohamed Latiff Mohamed's novel Batas Langit.
- Writer, Playwright and Storyteller Verena Tay will perform her own work ‘Exile from Heaven: Zhang E’s Story’, a section from The Lunar Interviews from In the Company of Heroes.
- Storyteller and Artistic Director Kamini Ramachandran will perform 'The Tiger' by S. Rajaratnam from The Short Stories and Radio Plays of S. Rajaratnam.
The Asian Stories performance will be followed by a Panel session Translation from Print to the Voice featuring all four story performers and other guests. The audience will have an opportunity to further explore the intricacies of translating from text to performance by questioning the performers.
